Firmenbriefkopf Nr. 90 Gross-Gerau, den 14. Mai 1938

Lieber Martin

Heute traf dein Bf. Was hast du eigentlich die ganze Zeit getan?

No. 90 Gross-Gerau, May 14th, 1938

Dear Martin,

Today we received your letter No 89 which made me very happy, as it seems you now have to chance to rise in your career, hopefully this will happen like that. What have you been doing the whole time? Did you work as a stock boy or in the stockroom all the time? Imagine, I now have my own Leica. In terms of lenses, I have so far: 1 Elmar 35 cm 1: 35,1 Elmar qcm 1:4 and 1 Hektor 135 cm 1:4,5. In you next letter you can explain to me which one I should still buy in order to be able to take perfect pictures. Congratulations to you and your friends for the cottage and wish you all that you have lots of fun there.

News: The Bretten family sold their house but can stay for another half a year living there. How much they got, I don’t know yet, and I also don’t know where they want to move afterwards. Aunt Hans wrote only a few lines that they have sold it to their neighbor. I think she will soon come to us. Max and Selma wrote today that on their trip to Hamburg they stayed overnight in Wildungen and it was all right there. Perhaps we’ll go with them there for a while.

I’ll just wait till they are back. Mrs Kossmann went to her garden with the Kaufmann family to water the plants; they send their greetings. So does Hede. I’ll stop for today. Warm kisses from you Father.

Yesterday Heini came here once more and tomorrow he goes from Mainz to Hamburg where he will board the ship with hi in-laws on the 18th.
