Firmenbriefkopf alt

Gross-Gerau 2. August 1937 Nr. 55

Gross-Gerau, Number 55, August 1937

Dear Martin,

Glad to see you are doing well and thank God we are healthy as well, only Uncle Salomon could be better; he went to see a friend in Bad Neuheim for a few days and got some bladder problems, so that he had to go to Frankfurt and now he wears a catheter and is back home. He has no pain and the doctor hopes he will be alright in a few days. We have just been to the garden with Else: the pear and plum trees are full; we will also get a few hundred kilo apples, the yield is excellent this year.

Kahn of Stockstadt went to the district office this morning: he must report to Stuttgart Aug 12. A brother of Rudolf and Siegfried Kahn who used to live in Büdesheim died yesterday. It is better for him; he was very sick for a whole year and suffered a lot.

Tante Hans did not visit us for the yahrzeit, due to Uncle Joseph’s illness. I invited both for the holidays; whether they will come is still open.

I cannot complain about receiving the outstanding dues. Grünig still owes 2 thousand, but pays every month. Schulz Biebesheim transferred an amount of 2500 M into the Bausparkasse in Darmstadt and hopes to be done with it soon. Schneider Griesheim has paid his first instalment of 1000 M and the interests are due again Aug 1; he must pay 1000 M each year and his sister is paying that. Wilhelm Antes is slowly paying off his debts; now he wants to pay 100/week; will see if he keeps his word; but there is no risk as I am insured for mortgages. Hess Pfungstadt has paid this week. Ackermann Raunheim has also paid 1000 M already and must still pay 100/month. Von Knoblauch has a mortgage now as well and must pay it within a year. Heinrich P. Anthes is paying all 14% and owes now less than 2000. I hope to receive the money also from Weder, I gave the case to Hansa to collect and they seized part of his wages as he has some sort of work now.

Otherwise, there is nothing new today. Greetings to all and warm kisses to you from your Father.

Send me the first name of Eduard’s daughter in the same sequence. Perhaps you could also send M.’s address and that of my brother Carl’s daughter, as it is possible the inheritance judge might need it.
