Firmenbriefkopf 9. 5. 1937

Meine Lieben.

My dears,

Dear Max, thank you very much for your kind and honest words. My thoughts exactly, which I have already written to Martin as well, in my letter before the last one. I think he must have already told you about it. It almost looks like we had talked with one another before. It is not a small thing to undertake such a trip at our age; but postponing it is not the same as cancelling it. I hope Martin has found something better which should bring him further. I would be happy if he managed and were no longer being a burden to you. We are, thank God, healthy and I hope the same goes for you as well.

Dear Martin sent us a very nice picture of you and sweet Käthchen in the kitchen; you were just about to cut a piece of ham when he surprised the two of you; these are always the best pictures.

Last Pentecost we still went on a beautiful drive with Martin to Bad Mergentheim; that is now over for us since I myself cannot drive, and I don’t want to ride with others. For today I wish you a good Jontef and stay healthy, all of you; greetings to your children from me and warm kisses from your grateful cousin Emil.
