Firmenbriefkopf alt Nr. 57

17. August 1937

Lieber Martin!

Deinen sehr kurz gehaltenen Bf.

Also, l.

Number 57 August 17, 1937

Dear Martin,

We have received your very short letter No 56 and could tell from it that you were doing alright; same here thank God. Also Uncle Salomon is doing better and he looks great; he has to see the doctor (Dr. Seligmann) a few more times in Frankfurt.

There is nothing more to do in the shop as we get no more flour from the mills; this is why Job is now partnering with Alfred Meyer of Ingelheim (in the meat business); so far it’s going well; Mr Meyer used to be with Heini Hirsch together in this, but as there was not enough cash, they separated.

We gave your old photo to Julius Kahn; they will bring it to you as they are also going to Chicago. If you still have not received your watchband and your 2 blue suits from Carl then write to him at once, so that his parents could take these to you when they come to visit. They are leaving Aug. 26th from Hamburg on the steamboat “Deutschland”.

Leopold Hirsch of Büttelborn has been under the care of Dr. Rosenthal of Darmstadt for 16 weeks now; he had 2 difficult surgeries and is doing much better and hopes to be home in two weeks. They will then stay in Büttelborn for another 2-3 weeks and then move to their 83 year old father in Crumstadt, as the mother has passed away and the old man cannot be left alone. They have already sold their house in Büttelborn.

We are now getting close to New Year and hope it will bring to us only good things and good health above all and wish that you will have the same and great progress in the business and that you make the best impression on your boss. You know that your sister will be fully dependent on you as I am already 65 and will not live forever. Although I always say: Lord, do what you want, I am in no hurry.

Well, Martin, all the best for the New Year, and many kisses from your Father.

I will write to Max Herz and Winters today. Give my well wishes for Rosh Hashanah to August Hirsch and family and all others.
