Dear Martin,

Today we received your lovely letter and we were all terribly happy to get it. I'm really happy that you're doing well, dear Martin, and that the relatives have been so attentive to you in every way. On Saturday Father, Frau Kossmann, and I went with the Nachmanns to Frankfurt in the car. Among other things, we stopped by August Hirsch's and gave them various little things you'd forgotten. In the afternoon, I met Blanka, who asks the following: would you be so kind as to send a photo of her and Trude? Where did you put that film, if it's not possible? Would you also be so good as to send a picture of you in the USA? Blanka and I went to the following cafes all in one evening: 1. Cafe Rotsch, 2. Cafe Vienna, 3. Cafe Falk. It's possible that Blanka will come visit for the weekend next Friday, and hopefully it'll happen. I went home at midnight. As I was going from the train to the house, I came across Father and Frau Kossmann on the Marktplatz, and the first thing Father said was that Uncle Salomon went back to Frankfurt to the Gagern Hospital. They were playing Skat at our house and suddenly he had pains again, and was taken immediately. On Sunday he returned, and is looking very good again. On Sunday Trude and I went by train to Darmstadt to the sports grounds. Karl, Friedel, Margot, Salli were there. They were there with Karl's car. Job ran into "Cigar Josef" who immediately asked after you. In the evening, Trude and I went to the cinema - A Castle in Flanders with Marta Eggerth. The movie was very good. We returned home at midnight. Sunday Trude is getting married in Frankfurt. Dr. Sommle is marrying her. Today Herr Reichert was there, he sends his kind greetings. Today we made apple butter. If you go to Siegfried Kahn's please give them my warmest greetings. At Rudolf's, everything was okay and they were asking a lot about you, on account of Trude. Father reckons moving away or emigrating isn't so far off now. Namely, he says just staying here indefinitely has no purpose and makes no sense. Today it rained solid all night and then again all day. Next Sunday evening Lette D, Trude, and Hilde are coming here for my birthday. [????????] totally amazing. I think I'd prefer to go to Frankfurt with Trude than stay with these men and women, and father also forbade it. On August 10th (the tragic day) it was actually a happy day for Mohrchen.
