Lieber Martin

hoffentlich bist du gesund, weil du diese Woche nicht geschrieben hast; ich denke doch dass du soviel Zeit hast, wöchentlich an deinen Vater zu schreiben. Also am 31. Dez. ist Schluss. Wir hatten in diesem Monat noch 400 S(ack) R(oggen) Mehl, ca. 80 S(ack) W(weizen) Mehl von den Mühlen und ca. 50 S(ack) W(eizen) Mehl aus II. Hand und hoffe noch 50 S. von der Hessenmühle zu bekommen. Am Freitag war bei Laun in A, der mir auch noc h was Roggen Mehl abnahm. Er will mich mit seiner Frau am nächsten Sonntag besuchen; wir sind eben sehr gute Freunde und hat in letzter Zeit viel Mehl bekommen. Wenn die Belieferung besser wäre, hätte doch noch nicht aufgehört; denn verkaufen kann man heute eher und leichter als beschaffen.

Heute Mittag hatten zum ersten mal seit deiner Abreise pommes frites und haben wir alle an dich gedacht, weil du sie doch so gern gegessen; hoffentlich gibt es solche auch in A(merika). Hoffentlich hast du von Salli deine Schuhe, Hemden, Ring und Kette empfangen und wird alles deinen Beifall gefunden haben. Schreib doch nochmals an Karl Kahn wegen d. blauen Stoffanzug und dem Uhrenarmband.

Dear Martin,

Hopefully you are well, for you have not written this week; one would hope you have got enough time to write to your Father. So, by Dec. 31 we are finished. This month we still had 400 bags of rye flour, about 80 bags of wheat from the mills and about 50 bags of second hand wheat flour, and I hope to get 50 bags from the Hessenmühle. Friday I saw Laun in A, he took over some rye flour from me. He and his wife want to come to visit next Sunday; we are very good friends and he has got a lot of flour recently. Had the shipping been better, I would not have stopped; one can sell easier than buy today. Today it was the first time since you had left that we ate fries for lunch and we all thought of you, since you used to love them so much; hopefully they have such fries in A(merica) as well. Hopefully you have received your shoes, shirts, ring and chain from Salli and liked all of them. Write again to Karl Kahn about the blue suit and the watchband. Say hello to all from me and warm kisses to you from your Father.
