Letter from Emil Marx

Hedes Bf. war No 5 + dieses ist jetzt No 6

23 August

L. Martin

Also Martin schreibe ja wochentlich punktlich damit nicht in Verlegenheit bin. Sei noch herzl. geküßt von deinem Vater

Grüsse an Alle Lieben

Von Haider bekomme jetzt ???? kg 30- vertraglich.

Hede's letter was number 5 and this is now number 6

August 23rd

Dear Martin,

Hoping that you and all the loved ones are well, I'm happy to report that we all are. Hopefully you've found work by now, we've been waiting all week already for news from you, but till now in vain, and perhaps the letter didn't make it again. Your most recent was on August 8th via air mail. Should the latter be the case, perhaps you're better off sending the letters to Darmstadt, but I still hope that something arrives from you in the coming days. There's very little new here to report; everything carries on as before.

For next week I have 150 sacks of rye flour that will immediately be sent out to Darmstadt. On Friday I sold Rehn 25 sacks that had already bolted. The Haider house was sold yesterday but Rehn is still outside for now. Wilhelm Geyer wrote on Friday that he can't buy from us anymore, which I already suspected on my last visit. But I'm still not losing courage. This week an official from the trade association in Frankfurt was here to audit again but could find almost nothing. Yesterday Uncle Salomon again sensed something and he went to Frankfurt at 7:30 in the evening, and returned at 9 o'clock. Today, he's doing well again. On Friday it was Hede's birthday, and yesterday she invited the girls over; she'll tell you all about it herself. Alright Martin, write every week regularly so I'm not embarrassed. Kisses from your Father.

Greetings to all loved ones.

I'm now getting 30- per kilo under contract from Haider.
