7. 3. 1941 Dazwischen geschrieben. | My Darlings, We received your letters from Jan 22, Feb 5 and Mar 7, as well as the care package, which made us very happy, as we can make good use of it. Hopefully dear Mitzi, you have meanwhile recovered from your cold, your parents as well, so all of you are well, which I can say about us also, thank G. I have already wrote to you in the last letter that you, dear Martin should write to Stuttgart to tell them that you got married in November, and Mitzi would help with the sponsoring and that you also set aside some moneys, that is, a so-called accreditation (the more the better) so that we get through this easier; apparently this is very important these days. I am only repeating all this just in case my last letter does not arrive. In your last telegram you indicated that you had paid for two seats on the ship; well, have you reserved these from over there as well, as we have not heard anything from Lisbon yet. The Kahns have already received proof from Lisbon 14 days ago about the 856 dollars paid by Carl, but up to now they do not have room on the ship yet. They too, received a telegram from their sister-in-law that they had paid an additional 84 dollars for the trip to Lisbon, as this, too, must be paid from over there. If you had written to Stuttgart, send me a copy of it, so I know what’s going on. I have just come back from the Aid Office who said that Stuttgart received the America Line papers, and they showed me your telegram as well, and so we were told one must wait for news from Lisbon, which then will be conveyed to Stuttgart by the Aid Office. Today I got a letter from Aunt Hans who said that she received 5 dollars from Albert. Perhaps you can send her some food from there? Uncle R. is visiting her daily. Her adress is: J. K(oppel) Flat K. Baraques 10 Camp de Gurs, Basses Pyreneés. I wish I could send her something from here. Rudo also visits her every day. I’ve got nothing else for today. Stay healthy; give our greetings to the in-laws, and Salomon, and warm kisses to both of you from your father. Written in between: Thank you very much for the care package, it helps a lot. We do not need any more sugar, but we miss everything else. Greetings, Johanna Kossmann Left margin: We would love to send something to Aunt Hans, but we do not have anything ourselves. Unfortunately, we cannot. |
