Meine Lieben d. 7. 1. 1941
| My Darlings, I have been waiting for your first letter after your wedding in vain; I know you cannot do anything about it, but you can imagine how much I want to see your first words to us, dear Mitzi. Every day I keep hoping that I would receive something. Again, I was somewhat under the weather, but meanwhile I am well again, thank God. Yesterday I could go out again, the first time after 14 days, and hopefully I can do so more and more. I still have not got any news from Aunt Hans herself, but indirectly I heard she was alright. Here, life is always the same, day in day out. Sunday we had a larger company for birthday coffee, but it was rather quiet (as it should be). We have been living here for two years already; how fast time passes by! Yesterday the daughter of Simon Schott from Mörfelden left for the U.S.A. with her two children. Perhaps it will be our turn soon as well. Julius Kahn is hoping for the same every month, and so does Adolf Guckenheimer’s family – they want to go to Brazil. How is Uncle Salomon doing? And the Nachmanns? Now you won’t have that much time to see them. Has Ruth got married? Have you heard anything from Uncle Max and Aunt Selma? Did they attend your wedding? I have not heard anything from them for a very long time. Hope you two are getting this letter soon and that I, too, will hear from you just as soon. Warm kisses to both of you, from your father. Greetings to the in-laws as well. Hede and Mrs Kossmann send their greetings, too. |
