Firmenbriefkopf 1. März 1937 Lieber Martin! Vater will Roches-Bank spielen; deshalb genug für heute herzlich Grüsse für Dich auch an alle Bekannte und Verwandte von Johanna Kossmann. | March 1st, 1937 Dear Martin, Your letter of yesterday was the first one we have received unopened; we were amazed. Everything is alright here, we're content. Hede is still in Nierstein and seems content. I think she'll come back home at the end of the week. Yesterday the Worms crew was here and it was very cozy. The men played a marathon session of skat: from half past 3 in the afternoon to 11 at night. Uncle Salomon and Job were along and in the evening, the Kahns joined with the Birchemers [?], so it was high season here. Sig. und Rosel left at half past 11; they send their love. Rosel’s siblings wrote us already from B(uenos) Aires. They had a nice trip. Here there is nothing new; on Saturday Father saw Feiler; I visited my aunt on Leerbach Street, both my cousins still have their jobs. The one at the bank was away in St. Moritz. Any news from Aenne and Ernst? They did not have water in their flat; it was flooded up to the top floor. Uncle Max won’t stay in N(ierstein), they want to go to Mainz; Lohmüller will get the shop, if all works out. You can always go see the relatives or acquaintances: so your days are filled. Have you spoken to the Marx from Cologne? Sally will arrive now, that should make you happy. Else speaks as if she were already over there; every week she attends class; Rola Herz and her husband also got their visa, so they are happy. Should we send some candy – from home sweet home? Pesach is in 4 weeks, it is a pity we have to stay home during the holidays and think about the nice visits we had had with you. Last week Father went to see Frau Steingrober in the Taunus and I rode with him; it was beautiful in the Taunus all covered in snow; Job and I had to wait 2 hours though for Father to take care of business; but he did and so he will get his money. Father met Willy Mayer today, who is still in F.; Do you hear from Blum? As I heard, Mariele Weil is there, too, will she come to Chicago? Have you listened to the Megillah? Or did you go to the Purim ball? Sally has a few stamps for you, how is your collection doing? Probably not much, since you've got no time for frivolities alongside the evening classes. But, do you often look at the album with the pictures – a bit of home for you! Father wants to play Roches-Bank, so enough for today. Loving greetings to you and all our people and relatives from Johanna Kossmann credit: bg |
