Firmenbriefkopf 18. 1. 1937
| January 18th, 1937 Dear Martin, Nothing special to report today. Your letter number 26 arrived on January 13th, so we had two letters from you in a week. We're all healthy, thank God, and the days are going by so quickly, when you just think that you've already been gone for half a year. I find that you already are using English words more often in the letters, I'm sure you're thinking in English. Should you want to change jobs again, please write your father about it, as he's saying, the most important thing is that you're working, and he always wants to be up-to-date. On Saturday, we went to congratulate the Oppenheimers. Liesel is very content, she's marrying a nice man. Ruth and Paul were also there; if it works out they'll set out on the 17th of February. We've taken care of all of your shirts, I think you'll finally have enough. Boots have been ordered. Sally will bring these with. They cost 3 marks extra for the pair. Yesterday (Sunday), we had various visitors. It was very nice at synagogue. Herr Krämer spoke on behalf of the Winter Relief: how many are being supported and what's being done and what still must be done. Dr. Bienheim's speech was delightful, and very practically oriented toward today's times. I spoke very briefly. Herr Krämer invited him, he couldn't stray. In the evening, the Niersteiners came. It was very cozy. I haven't heard a word from W., I'll get an answer in any case. What do you think about this: today I helped your father make statements: I completed three, am I not useful? He was sitting in the office so alone, so it was more comfortable for him. Next week, Sally comes to make his departure visit, so everything moves along. Frau Hirsch is really attentive, as you're often a guest there, you must feel really at home there. I must wrap up now, for today my heartfelt greetings from Johanna Kossmann. Greetings to all our friends. Dear Martin, I'm a bit worn out today from all the arithmetic with the statements, so for this reason, I'll just send you greetings and kisses today. More next time. Send my greetings to all our loved ones, your Father. |
