Postkarte an Mr. Martin Marx c/o 70 Hale Chicago Ill. 5040 Str. Blackstone Ave. U.S.A. | (Keep it between us that I'm writing.) You'll be shocked to get a postcard, but your letter from December 27th gave your father such a shock and got him all worked up so he couldn't sleep, since you've switched jobs without having mentioned anything, and father is thinking that the people weren't happy with you or something like that. I ask you to please write back about it all in detail! We want so much for you to succeed; something else is bothering Father: that you mention nothing about the Herzes any more. Do you not go there anymore or did you have a falling out with them? I would have seen everything from another angle: you weren't able to advance further in your second position; I found it fine. But then Else came and made a scene out of it! Thank God Sally will soon be there, etc. I ask you please, dear Martin, write at length about the business. You want to know everything from us too, and we're open with you. The letter from January 3rd just arrived asking if Sally can still bring the shoes. Tomorrow Father will drive to Darmstadt, he wants to go see Moll. Do you need these so badly? I hope you won't hold it against me that I've written you these lines; I do it so that Father doesn't have any unnecessary worries about you, as one already has enough. So please write in detail about everything! Tell father if you already have something on the side; he'll soon let you know that. But stay healthy and heartfelt greetings from Johanna Kossmann |
