Briefkopf der Firma 19. Oktober 1936 No. 15
| October 19th, 1936 Number 15 Dear Martin, This week the letter gets sent a day late; yesterday we took a two hour long walk and as we were headed home, ran into Johanna Kahn and had to play some skat, and the evening arrived and the little photos were there. Here everything is "all right", all familymembers are healthy. Uncle Salomon went to Mainz roughly four times this week, he has business there. I hope you've gotten accustomed to the new position, and do well there, I'm sure it'll be interesting for you and fun as well. I've already found the book and will send it as "printed matter" so you won't have to wait till the Pesach clean to get it. Now you have it better, you don't have to get up and out so early, in the winter, that's an advantage. Are you able to get up in the mornings without being woken, dear Martin, is that still your morning pace? Dr. Heichelheim's son is supposedly a nice person, in the meantime you've gotten the letter. I was in Mainz last week, met with Flora Blum, she reported that Erna has her work permit again, so she can work. I've heard very little from Bretten, and I'm amazed that no one has written you; we don't know anything about Gerhard Koppel. Father will head there soon, then we'll hear what's new. Erna Krämer has wanted to visit with us for a long time, but today everyone has so much to do. I need to go to the eye doctor, and then I'll go to the Krämers. You know your Father; he never wants to leave, always at home. Aunt Hilda is in Nierstein, helping with Ernst's preparations. Today I'll go to the Kahns and try to make myself a bit useful, as today's packing day. Karl has a lot of luggage. Saturday evening is the farewell party, but the company is minimal at this point; Saturday was a big bar mitzvah and Hartogsohn's farewell service, had a nice talk, he's sorry to totally leave here. In 14 days, he'll get engaged. The clearing of the field is now complete. We can keep our acre, and Reichert can work there "fresh and happy." Hede went to a ball in Offenbach on Saturday with Nachmann. She's content, at least. Please reciprocate all the greetings, today Dr. Krammer was at the appointment and sends his greetings. I could cook you a "greetings porridge" [play on semolina], you're getting so many. If you get an apartment, write immediately, Father will want to send money again next month. For today, warmest greetings from Onkel Salomon, Flora Blum, and especially from your Johanna Kossmann |
